About Us

Welcome to Story Society, where you can experience the magic of storytelling.

Founded in 2023 as a passion project by writer and artist Gabriel de Xahsol, who has a profound love for the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Our mission is to provide a platform for talented creators to showcase their work and for avid readers to explore new worlds, unearth the uncanny, and embark on thrilling journeys through the power of words and art.

But we strive to be more than just a press.

Story Society aims to build a thriving and vibrant community where book lovers from all walks of life can come together to connect, share, and explore the wonderful world of literature.

Our Mission

We believe that storytelling is a timeless art that transcends boundaries and connects people across the globe. Story Society’s Press is dedicated to:

  • Exploring the Unknown: Our Press is a portal to the uncharted territories of the human imagination. We seek out stories and artwork that challenge the limits of creativity and transport our readers to extraordinary places and situations.
  • Celebrating Diversity: We embrace diversity in all its forms, promoting voices and perspectives from every corner of the Earth and beyond. We are committed to amplifying underrepresented voices within the genres we adore.
  • Nurturing Creativity: StoSo Press is a nurturing environment for both emerging and established creators. We provide a space for writers and artists to experiment, grow, and share their unique visions with the world.

What We Do

With StoSo Press we’re looking to publish great speculative fiction stories, poems, and art. Here are some of our current projects:

StoSo Ink

StoSo Ink is a monthly online publication that specializes in the genres of Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Horror. StoSo Times will be sent first as a newsletter edition, then shared on our website. Our goal is to publish at least one story and one poem per genre for each issue. Every 12 months we will include the year’s publications in a print anthology.

Rekindle is an anthology series we’re working on that will feature older public domain works that helped pave the way for the modern speculative fiction genre. These will be published free in StoSo Ink in addition to being available in special edition hardcover and paperback editions.

StoSo Times

Our newsletter! It will feature sneak peaks of upcoming issues of Ink, as well as news and updates regarding the community.

Other Projects

Eventually we plan to expand into publishing novels and nonfiction as it relates to SFFH, such as thought-provoking essays, book reviews and recommendations, author interviews, excerpts from forthcoming books, and other noteworthy industry news. Additionally, we intend to release more SFFH anthologies, video and audio content to further explore the realms of speculative fiction.

Community Plans

As we embark on this exciting journey, we are committed to continually enhancing your experience and expanding the possibilities within our community. We have big plans for the future of StoSo. Here’s a glimpse of what’s to come:

  • Book Marketplace: We will be launching a dedicated marketplace where authors can sell their books, merchandise, and exclusive swag directly to our community. Additionally, everyone will have the opportunity to sell used books and any other bookish items they wish to share. Think of it as an Etsy for book lovers, connecting buyers and sellers in a convenient and book-centric environment.
  • Social Platform: Do you dream of a place where you can forge meaningful connections with those who understand your bookish obsessions? We want to provide space for people to share thoughts, opinions, and theories. A space for engaging discussions and staying up-to-date on about upcoming book releases, author events, literary festivals, and other exciting news from the book world.
  • Book Catalog:  We want to help you find your next great read. Readers will have the ability to get recommendations, create lists, leave reviews, and so much more.
  • Showcasing your Creativity: If you’re a writer, poet, or author, StoSo intends to offer you a platform to share your work, gain valuable feedback, and connect with other writers. Along side writing focused groups, Authors will have the option to create groups for their fans. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, collaboration opportunities, or constructive critique, our community is here to support and nurture your creative journey.
  • Mobile App: We understand the importance of convenience and accessibility in today’s digital age. That’s why we’re actively developing a mobile app that will allow you to access our community anytime, anywhere. Stay connected with fellow book lovers, participate in discussions, receive personalized recommendations, and engage with the full range of StoSo’s features while on the go.
